OKRA DROPLET TEST & EFFICACY INVESTIGATION
Dec 28 , 20211.1 OKRA-Test Purpose & Design
Test purpose: To test the droplet distribution and aphid efficacy investigation of EAVISION Drone in the okra field.
Test design: Continuously spray on the test plot. The test area is in the middle of the test plot. There are 3 test strips that are placed on the two routes. On each test strip, there are three layers: upper, middle, and lower. Test papers are placed on the front and back sides of the leaves. One row of test cards will be placed on the left and right sides of each flight line in each layer. A row of test cards is placed directly below UAV on the two routes and two rows of test cards are placed in the middle of the two routes. The parameters are set as follows: flight height: 1m; flight speed: 3 m/s; atomization: 130 μm; liquids per mu: 1 L; spray width: 3m; the conditions of aphids should be investigated before application. The investigation will be carried out after 1 day and 3 days after application. A five-point sampling method will be used in this test.
1.2 OKRA-Pesticide Composition & Dosage
This test is to control aphids with the pesticide composition and dosage as follows:
1.3 OKRA-Droplet Test Data & Analysis
Test data showed that pesticides were distributed on the upper, middle and lower leaves on the plant to achieve the expected effect. But the droplet coverage and droplet number on the front and back sides in the same position were significantly different. The reasons are as follows:
• 1. There was the breeze during the test with the speed of 2m/s. This affected the test.
• 2. The plant swayed in the wind with the leaves covering each other, which resulted in the change of droplet distribution.
1.4 OKRA-Observation of Insect Pests in the Field before Application
Investigation before plant diseases and insect pests was carried out. Only aphids were found in the fields. Aphids were mainly concentrated on the top okra young fruit and new leaves, and winged aphids were also present.
1.5 OKRA-Observation of Pesticide Effect in the Field after Application
An investigation was conducted one day after the application, and it was found that only the aphids on the top of the young fruit of okra died, and the aphids on the lower part of the young fruit and the underside of the leaf did not die. The aphid decline rate was not counted.
An investigation was conducted 3 days after pesticide application. Five positions in the east, west, south, north and middle of the survey area were selected for sampling. It was found that aphids on the young okra fruits were almost all dead. The aphids on the back of the leaves were partially dead and some were alive. New aphids appeared.
1.6 OKRA-Observation of Pesticide Effect in the Field after Application
1.7 OKRA-Efficacy Result Analysis
Survey results showed that all aphids on the young okra fruit died, while some of aphids on the back of the leaves survived. This may be due to that the liquids can cover the young okra fruit in all directions, but fail to cover the back of the leaf in all directions. When communicating with
the keeper of the okra garden about the efficacy of the liquids, he said that the amount of liquid used per mu was up to 3L when using drones to spray, and the effect of controlling aphids was very good. In future experiments, we will try to increase the amount of liquid used per mu to compare the effects.
